How to know when your Air Conditioner is low on refrigerant?

Temperatures are beginning to climb so it is time to prepare your Cooling equipment for the summer months. Here are a few self-care tips for your AC.

1) Consider replacing your HVAC System
Review your current energy bills and the age of your furnace.
If your furnace is over 10 years old, it will only be 40-60%
efficient and will cause your utility bills to increase.

Newer high-efficiency furnaces are 95-97% efficient and will save on heating costs long term.

2) Clean or replace air filters
Dirty filters restrict airflow and cause your furnace to work harder which increases the fuel costs and hampers the overall efficiency of the furnace. Filters should be changed every three months; a permanent electrostatic filter can be installed which can be washed and re-inserted in the furnace.

3) Clean and unblock your vents
For cleanliness and proper airflow have your ducts and vents cleaned annually and make sure your air returns are not blocked by furniture or boxes for example.

4) Check or upgrade your thermostat
There are many new smart thermostats, some Wi-Fi compatible,
which makes adjusting the temperature a breeze.

By setting it up to lower the temperature when you are not home you can cut
back on your energy consumption and save.
